London Jewellery Week - 7 — 13 June 2010

Contemporary designer jewellers Argenteus will be showing a selection of jewellery from a winner of the Professional Jeweller Magazine Treasure competition at their Covent Garden store during London Jewellery Week.

Regina Aradesian won a free exhibition stand at Treasure, the jewellery exhibition taking place as part of LJW at Victoria House. Beating off stiff competition from several other talented designers, Regina won a place at the exhibition along with two others.

Her work explores the intricacies of the cellular world observed through a microscope combined with traditional Armenian patterns. The jewellery is formed from precious metals with transparent plique-a-jour enamels, which when lit from behind create the impression of tiny stained glass windows. The technique of plique-a-jour uses transparent enamels without metal backing allowing light to intensify the luscious colours used. Each piece is hand filled with a combination of two to three enamel colours and fired, a colour alchemy which means no two pieces are exactly the same. The jewels are decorated with engravings of her Armenian roots, especially ancient manuscripts and interiors.

Argenteus has a special connection with Regina as she was once the manager of their Covent Garden branch. So its very fitting that she returns there now for a feature exhibition of her work during London Jewellery Week.

Argenteus creative Director Fiona Mawson said “We’ve been selling Regina’s work in Covent Garden almost from the moment she left us as manager. Many of our branch staff have backgrounds as designers and makers in their own right and we often try to promote their work, both during and after their time with us. On this occasion its especially pleasing to be able to welcome Regina back into the branch with a special evening dedicated to her sucess. We’re all very much looking forward to seeing her again”

Argenteus will be holding a special ‘meet the designer’ event at its Covent Garden branch at 16 The Piazza, with drinks and nibbles from 6pm until 8pm on Friday 11th June. A wide range of work from Aradesi Jewellery will be on view and available to buy. Regina will of course be on hand to answer questions about the techniques and materials employed in her designs.
